Securing and Facilitating Trade in North America and Europe

The growth of global trade and increasing security threats have forced Customs administrations to shift their focus from collecting duties to securing international trade.

The World Customs Organisation (WCO) drafted the Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate global trade (SAFE) to assist Customs administrations in meeting these new challenges.WCO

Developing an Authorised Economic Operator programme is a core part of SAFE; creating Customs-to-business partnerships that secure the supply chain and facilitate legitimate low-risk trade.

AEO Programs have been developed by customs administrations around the world. In Europe the program is called Authorised Economic Operator (AEO), while in the United States it is known as Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT)

MIQ Logistics are AEO and C-TPAT accredited globally

The C-TPAT and AEO accreditations are designed to simplify fiscal compliance, safeguard homeland security and support supply chain risk management.

The accreditations are open to supply chain participants including:

  • Importers
  • Exporters
  • Manufacturers
  • Freight forwarders
  • Air, Sea. Road and Rail Carriers
Why you should only use AEO accredited agents:

Border processes are more efficient for approved businesses and their clients as they are recognised as low risk and less likely to be delayed due to examinations.

You have faster access to the border in the event of border disruptions, which means less risk of spoiled perishable goods, and a more predictable border experience.

There is low risk of tampering to your shipments, which builds confidence with Customs and border authorities and enhances your reputation.

Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs), allow AEO companies to receive border facilitation benefits in other countries.

MIQ Logistics network of offices throughout North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia are ready to help you navigate through the process of AEO or C-TPAT accreditation in assessing and managing your supply chain risks.
