Andrew Martin

Managing Director, EMEA

Andy MartinAs managing director, EMEA, Andy Martin is responsible for operations, sales and the organization’s overall development in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Andy joined MIQ Logistics in 1995 and was promoted to managing director in 2002.

During his tenure with MIQ Logistics, he has been instrumental in its acquisition of a world-class, value-added warehouse company, and the development of an International Supply Chain service offering.

His focus on a strong service culture among employees led to the company’s recognition by the Sunday Times and The Independent.

Andy started his career at DHL, and by age 21 he was Gateway Consolidation manager for DHL Air Cargo in the UK. He later moved to B&H Worldwide and helped build its time-critical aircraft support service.


Tony Calnan

Regional Director

tony-calnanTony has the gift of entrepreneurialism which has enabled him to deliver year-on-year, sustainable growth and profitability.

He is the friend with whom you can do business as well as have a great time socially, a real gem in the MIQ Family.

Tony has been with the Company since 1996 and is the driving force of the Midlands & Northern region and the key customer relationships we have built over these years.


Alan Hewitt

Ocean Product Director

Alan leads the newly forming Ocean product management team.

With three decades of operational and commercial experience in short and deep sea container shipping, Alan has held a variety of senior executive positions with some of the industry’s largest global players over the last 15 years.

Alan’s team will further develop our sea freight product and guide our customers through the often murky waters of international ocean shipping.

Significant and sustainable growth of our ocean services will increase volumes further, greatly complimenting the already established ISC and VAW products and ensure that MIQ can offer full end to end supply chain solutions for our customers.


Markus Higham

Global Services Director

Markus has responsibility for much of the UK’s commercial and sales activity. He develops MIQ’s relationships and negotiates contracts with carriers and major service providers. Markus also manages the LHR based commercial department and primary UK sales team.

Born in Durban South Africa, Markus maintains his love of all things outdoors, enjoying cycling, fly fishing and many other sports and challenges.

 


Steve Hicks

Logistics Director

Steve Hicks

Steve is an immensely capable logistics professional and holder of a Masters in Business Administration (MBA.)

He has almost two decades senior executive experience across a range of sectors including, defence, engineering, technology, forwarding and logistics operations.

Steve has commercial. strategic and operational responsibility for MIQ Logistics flagship UK retail logistics facilities; managing key contracts and customer relationships.


John Howlett

VP International Supply Chain

John Howlett

John leads MIQ’s International Supply Chain (ISC) team, with responsibility for developing the ISC product and end-to-end supply chain solutions, which are supporting the continued success and growth of leading brands and retailers.

John’s supply chain knowledge has been developed over many years. Most notably in shaping DHL’s retail supply chain capability and more recently with his international consulting experience.

His early career embraced many client-side (Hitachi) and provider roles including procurement, manufacturing, logistics and international transport.In his spare time John enjoys cycling and travelling.

 


Don Purnell

MD Value Added Warehousing

Don is a natural entrepreneur and relationship builder, who has immense experience in the fashion logistics space.

Don was the owner of The Logistics Corporation (TLC) prior to MIQ acquiring the business in 2010 and led its integration and subsequent growth.

He continues to lead our Value Added Warehousing (VAW) division as the Managing Director.

Don’s retail expertise and relationships play a critical part in our success in managing complex warehousing operations for key customers like GANT, Phase Eight and Seraphine.

A larger-than-life character, Don is a source of inspiration when it comes to staff motivation and works alongside colleagues to develop their full potential, a skill that we value highly given our focus to Value Our People.


Mick Robinson

IT Director

mick-robinsonHeading up our Information Technology department, Mick plays a critical part in our success as a solution design/implementation specialist within supply chain management.  Mick understands the two very different worlds of Technology and Freight and knows how to leverage practical, workable and value added internal and external systems that ultimately benefit our customers.

Mick is methodical but direct and does not hesitate to put forward practical solutions to everyday issues, whether it is internal organisational efficiencies or external customer driven processes.


Phil Sawdon

Operations Director

Phil SawdonPhil Sawdon’s a career freight forwarder, with over 30 years experience.

With direct shipping experience in a wide range of industry verticals, including two of the most challenging, film and retail, Phil’s breadth of knowledge is unparalleled.

Joining MIQ Logistics in 1993, at its inception, Phil has held a number of key roles, including the development of an import capability and department, for the nascent MIQ.

As operations director, Phil’s commitment to delivering the highest levels of customer service and encouraging his colleagues to do the same, is no longer restricted to the import department, but shared across the whole business.

Phil’’s determination to get the best possible results for every customer are legendary and set a high benchmark for his colleagues to better.

 


Muhammad Shah

HR Director

muhammad-shahUnder Muhammad’s leadership the MIQ Logistics HR capability has evolved beyond administration and payroll processing to embrace the transactional and strategic initiatives necessary to recruit and retain the best talent in the industry, while ensuring the high levels of employee engagement that has driven consistent growth and tripled employee numbers.

In recognition of his contribution, Muhammad was promoted to HR Director in July 2016.

Muhammad is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, holds a BA Honours in Economics & Public Administration and has completed studying for a Master’s Degree in Strategic Human Resources Management.

Muhammad is a trusted, professional and reliable partner to the business who has the academic aptitude to support our drive to make MIQ Logistics an employer of choice.


Vince Thomson

Account Director

Vince is a supply chain professional, with extensive Customs regime and compliance knowledge. Two decades with MIQ Logistics have honed his skills and given him a unique insight into MIQ’s global capabilities.

Combined with his Prince 2 certification Vince’s project management skills are well respected across the business.

Vince drove MIQ Logistics AEO accreditation and is responsible for on-boarding and daily management of key accounts.


Darren Williams

Darren Williams

Darren has been a driving force of MIQ Logistics for over two decades. Steering the business through many evolutions.

His vast industry and financial knowledge has been invaluable in overseeing the acquisitions, buy-outs and business changes that have strengthened MIQ Logistics financial foundations and driven bottom line growth.

Darren’s experience in global financial markets, together with knowledge of US and Chinese corporate legal frameworks has been a significant factor in the business’ successful international expansion.
